Is life with your dog not what you imagined?

Did your pup ace their way through puppy classes, but now they’ve hit adolescence it’s a different story? Or maybe you’ve welcomed home a rescue dog, but somewhere down the line you’re wondering what on earth you’ve done.
You love them with all your heart, but jeez they’re hard work.

Does any of this sound familiar?

You don’t feel like you have any connection with your dog out on a walk – your arm is permanently stretched from being pulled out of its socket, while your dog is busy straining at the other end of the lead
You’re constantly scanning the horizon, on the lookout for trouble. And your pulse quickens as soon as you spy an unsuspecting dog (or runner, or cyclist, or squirrel…) on the horizon – knowing full well what chaos and carnage is likely to ensue
You spend what feels like half your walk hiding behind cars and hedges, and the other half wishing the ground would swallow you up after your dog’s kicked off
You wish the judgey passersby (who are just dying to tell you what you’re doing wrong) saw the REAL dog underneath the reactivity – the one who’s a dream to live with. But no-one else gets to see that side of them, just the barking, the lunging, the growling

Imagine a few months from now, how would it feel..

To be able to walk your dog where you want, when you want… not tied to the same old familiar quiet routes at odd times of day when most other people won’t be out
To feel confident when you do see another dog – because your dog probably won’t react, and even if they do, you’ve got simple strategies up your sleeve to respond with
To really understand your dog: to have built a relationship based on trust and teamwork
To know that your dog is living their best life again, and you’re finally living yours

Extraordinary trainer

“Clare is brilliant – hugely knowledgeable, empathic and possibly the calmest person you will ever meet, all of which means she is an extraordinary trainer.

I’ve worked with a couple of others before but only Clare has really ‘got’ my lovely but fearful rescue and works with her on a far deeper level. I’ve seen such an improvement in the time we’ve been working with her.

Long may it continue!”

Am I the right trainer for you?

We’ll work well together if:

star icon

You feel stuck and overwhelmed – but you’re ready to try something new and start making changes

You see training as an investment in your relationship with your dog

You understand that quick fixes don’t work in the long run, that real results take time and consistency

You’re committed to putting the effort in to get there, you know that progress comes with the practice you put in between sessions

You’re open-minded, curious, and keen to learn alongside your dog

I’m not the right trainer for you if:

star icon

You just want the behaviour to disappear, rather than understand the reasons behind it and find out what’s really going on for your dog

You’re looking for a speedy solution: quick fixes usually rely on aversive or harsh training methods or tools/equipment, which I would never recommend
You want me to train your dog for you: I’m not the one with your dog 24/7, much more of what I do is coach YOU in how to train your dog
You want a single session or a pay-as-you-go option, rather than ongoing support and coaching
You’re not ready to make changes to your own routines or habits as part of the process

In short, I love working with people who are ready to make a real difference for their dog and themselves

We learned so much

“From our initial conversation on the phone with Clare I could feel that we would be able to trust her to help us. She was cheerful, warm and interested and seemed to understand straight away.

During our sessions she helped us to understand that Boo’s barking was not only from anxiety, but sometimes from frustration, too.

We learned so much, not only about Boo and how to help her, through training techniques, exercises and games – which she loves – but also about ourselves. Clare’s reports and plans after each session were invaluable in enabling us to remember what we had discussed.

We now have more confidence to take our cue from Boo, know what she is trying to tell us, and go from there. We have no hesitation at all in recommending Clare.”

What you’ll REALLY get when you work with me

Confidence:

“My rescue Collie was reactive towards other dogs and going for a walk was stressful for me and my dog but now I have techniques and I feel safe walking her and can deal with any reactive behaviour.” – Lynn with Evie

A greater understanding of your dog:

“We learned so much, not only about Boo and how to help her through training techniques, exercises and games – which she loves – but also about ourselves. We now have more confidence to take our cue from Boo, and know what she is trying to tell us” – Gill with Boo

Tailored support and flexible solutions:

“Clare is really knowledgeable, and always had ideas on what would help, as well as being willing to adapt them to our collie’s idiosyncrasies and what would fit our routines” – Maxie & Nel

With empathy and compassion:

“I was going through a very difficult period in life and my dog and I were caught in a whirlwind of grief and uncertainty. This contributed to her behaviours, but mine too. I will forever be grateful to Clare for the kindness and understanding she showed at a painful time.” – Amy with Gladys

At a pace that works for you and your dog:

“We have a very nervous rescue dog who takes a long time to feel comfortable around new people, but Clare has been incredibly respectful, patient, and understanding from day one. She has always worked at our dog’s pace, helping build both our dogs’ and our own confidence” – Lora with Helga

And support whenever you need me:

“Clare is super approachable and very responsive to questions via text/email along the way” – Emma with Coco & Charlie

The 3 month programme is £330

Or £175 x 2 if you want to pay in installments

(Some people find that the three month programme gets them to where they want to be.

Others want to continue to work with me longer term, and so I also offer a follow-on package after the initial programme)

How it works

"

Step one: Book a free 20 minute call

The most common thing people say to me at the end of a discovery call?

“I feel better already”

And that’s not because I’ve told them how to train their dog. (I don’t give out any training advice on discovery calls). But it’s also not a pushy sales call. It’s just an opportunity to talk. And actually be listened to.

You tell me about what’s going on for you and your dog, what issues you’re struggling with. And we chat about how I can help. (And if I don’t think I’m the right person to help you, I will point you in the right direction of someone else who can)

Step two: Sign up for the programme

If you want to go ahead, I’ll send a link for you to pay for the programme and book in for your first session.

There is absolutely no pressure to sign up if you decide that this isn’t the right way forward for you.

Step three: Complete a simple questionnaire

You’ll need to fill in a background and behaviour questionnaire ahead of your first session, to tell me a bit more about your dog, so I can start to build a picture of what’s going on for them.

Even for what seems to be a straightforward training issue, it’s always important to consider all aspects of their life, from food habits and health to exercise routines and sleep patterns.

Gathering this information upfront means we can make the most of our first session together.

Step four: We start your programme!

The first session will usually be at your home (although if your dog struggles with visitors, we can adapt this to whatever suits them best). Follow-up sessions will be held in various locations so that you and your dog can start practising your new skills in different environments.

A welcome relief

“Having already worked with a number of dog trainers with our border collie, it came as a welcome relief when we found Clare.

We first met to work on recall and Moss’s behaviour around some other dogs, both of which improved dramatically over the coming months.

Clare is very personable, knowledgeable and patient and is a pleasure to work with. Moss took to her immediately. The follow up reports she sends after each session are detailed and invaluable, great reminders of how to put the theory into practice.

In summary, I would highly recommend Clare, we wouldn’t engage anyone else. ”
