Dog TRAINING & BEHAVIOUR

Supportive and relaxed coaching sessions to solve your dog dilemmas

Does your dog bark and growl at other dogs, or lunge at people or passing cyclists?
Did your dog nail recall at puppy classes, but now they’ve hit adolescence it’s like they’ve gone deaf? Or have you welcomed home a rescue dog and you don’t dare let them off-lead?
Does your dog pull you from pillar to post when you’re out walking, have you tried a million different things but your shoulder is still being yanked out of its socket?
These are just some of the issues that I often help dog owners to overcome. Along with barking in the house, jumping up at visitors, eating gross or downright dangerous things, struggling at the vets or groomers, showing aggressive behaviour around food or toys, and sensitivity to certain sounds and noises.

Do you want…

To enjoy calm and stress-free walks with your dog without the worry of what might happen or the fear of being judged by other people?
To be able to relax when your dog is off-lead rather than being on a constant look-out for other dogs or wildlife that they might bolt after?
To walk down the street with your dog happily trotting by your side instead of them straining at the end of the lead?

The best thing we’ve done for our dog

“Our sessions with Clare have easily been the best thing we’ve done for our dog.

She barked – a lot. Towards the end of our sessions there was a noticeable difference (night and day!) in her behaviour.

Clare’s positive reinforcement approach was backed up with clear frameworks that just made sense and super comprehensive reports. We haven’t had to make any wholesale changes to our routines, but the straightforward guidance and simple tricks have helped us develop behaviours and habits that have improved Paxton’s experience.

Going into this I knew it would be us as owners who were actually getting trained, and Clare is just as good with people as with dogs. Clare’s approach is personal, kind and had our dog’s best interest at heart above our immediate need to quieten her down, which has helped us to understand her needs and create a better environment for her.

Even if your dog doesn’t exhibit unwanted behaviour I would recommend Clare as a ‘life coach’ for dogs/owners to give them the best possible experience. We’re looking forward to booking in again in a few months to share Paxton’s progress.

Thank you so much for everything!”

A huge help!

“Clare has been a huge help with our dogs that struggled with frustration.

Using fun ‘games’ methods meant that they really enjoyed their sessions and have come on leaps and bounds, we even recently managed to have a drink in a beer garden without disaster, something that only two months ago seemed years away!

Clare is super approachable and very responsive to questions via text/email along the way.”

How it works

"

Step 1

Book a free 15 minute call where:

I can find out about you and your dog, and the issues you’re facing

You can find out more about me and how I work, and make sure that we’ll be a good fit working together

We can discuss what you want to achieve with your dog, and how I can help you get there

"

Step 2

If you want to go ahead, I’ll send a link for you to pay and book for your session(s).

There is absolutely no pressure to book if you decide that this isn’t the right way forward for you.

Step 3

You’ll also need to complete a simple questionnaire to tell me a bit more about your dog, so I can start to build a picture of what’s going on for them.

Even for what seems to be a straightforward training issue, it’s always important to consider all aspects of their life, from food habits and health to exercise routines and sleep patterns.

Gathering this information upfront means we can make the most of our session together.

FAQs
When are training sessions available?
Weekday afternoons and evenings.
Where will the session take place?
The initial session will usually be at your home. Follow-up sessions may be held in various locations so that you and your dog can practise your new skills in different environments.
How long do the sessions last?
Single sessions are 60 minutes. If you book the package of three, the first session will usually be around 90 minutes, with the follow-up sessions being 45 minutes each.
What areas do you cover?
Face-to-face sessions are available anywhere within a 30 minute drive of Todmorden. An online option is also available for those who live further away.
My dog won’t take treats, will your training still work for them?
I use training methods that are reward-based, but “rewards” doesn’t necessarily mean food! Your dog gets to decide what is rewarding for them – if they prefer toys or attention etc as a reward, then that’s what we’ll use.
Do you do group classes?
I focus solely on helping owners with training and behaviour issues on a 1-2-1 basis, but if you get in touch I can suggest local trainers who run group classes that I highly recommend.

Friendly and approachable

“Clare was very knowledgeable, calm and instructive with us and advised us what best to do with our reactive dog.

She was friendly and approachable. She gave us a written plan to follow and couldn’t have been more helpful. She was great and our dog loved her.”
